Agios Ioannis o Prodromos (Saint John the Baptist) is one of the most revered saints in the Orthodox Christian Church and is honoured as the Forerunner of Christ. He was the prophet chosen by God to prepare the way for the coming of Jesus Christ, calling people to repentance and baptising them in the River Jordan ✨

Saint John lived a life of deep prayer, humility and devotion to God. He preached repentance and encouraged the people to turn their hearts back towards God. He is most famously known for baptising our Lord Jesus Christ in the River Jordan, where the Holy Trinity was revealed: the Son standing in the waters, the Holy Spirit descending like a dove, and the voice of God the Father proclaiming Christ as His beloved Son.
